What is IAHRS?

IAHRS stands for the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons. It is a consumer organization that is dedicated to supporting the highest standards of the practice, ethics, and research in the field of hair restoration surgery. The IAHRS is known for its selective membership criteria, only accepting hair restoration surgeons who meet certain qualifications and demonstrate a strong track record of successful patient outcomes.
The organization aims to help potential patients make informed decisions by providing access to experienced and trusted practitioners in the field of hair restoration. Ultimately, the IAHRS seeks to promote quality and ethical practices in hair restoration surgery, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care.

IAHRS is a private membership and consumer-information organisation. It is not the UK medical regulator, does not replace General Medical Council registration, and does not regulate clinic premises in England. Treat membership as one research signal, not a guarantee or the only reason to choose a clinic.
Before choosing a hair transplant clinic in London, confirm the surgeon’s full name and GMC number, the treatment location, and who will perform donor extraction, recipient-site creation, graft placement and aftercare. A proper consultation should assess the cause and pattern of hair loss, donor density, hair calibre, scalp health, medication and likely future thinning.
FUE, DHI and FUT are treatment methods, not automatic measures of quality. FUE removes follicular units individually. FUT removes a strip of donor scalp and leaves a linear scar. DHI generally uses individual extraction before grafts are placed with an implanter device. The right method depends on the treatment area, donor supply, hairstyle, previous surgery and long-term plan.
When comparing clinics, look for named clinical responsibility, current registration, a regulated treatment setting, clear pricing, realistic before-and-after photographs and written aftercare. Be cautious of guaranteed growth, pressure to pay quickly, or claims that one method is best for every patient. A hair transplant redistributes existing follicles; it cannot create an unlimited donor supply or stop untreated native hair from thinning.
Harley Street Hair Transplants identifies Dr Harpreet Kalra with GMC reference 7126076. We do not claim IAHRS membership for Dr Kalra on this page. Verify current registration and discuss the proposed procedure, alternatives, risks, recovery and total cost before deciding whether surgery is right for you.
The official IAHRS website is https://www.iahrs.org/. Use it alongside the GMC register, clinic-regulation information and a detailed consultation.
