Newcastle Hair Transplant Consultations
Patients from Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Shields, South Shields, Durham and the wider North East can arrange a consultation to discuss their hair-loss concerns and possible treatment options.
A proper consultation should assess the pattern and likely progression of hair loss, donor-area strength, hair calibre and texture, scalp health, medical history and what you would realistically like to achieve.
The objective is not simply to recommend the largest possible graft number. Donor hair is limited, so treatment planning should balance the area you want restored against the amount of donor hair that can be used responsibly over the long term.
Aftercare and follow-up should also be explained before you decide whether treatment is suitable, including early healing, washing, shedding and the gradual hair-growth period.

Hair Transplant Treatments for Newcastle Patients
The appropriate treatment depends on your donor area, pattern of hair loss, hair characteristics, treatment goals and medical suitability.
FUE Hair Transplant
Individual follicular-unit grafts are extracted from the donor area through small circular extraction sites.
FUE hair transplantDHI Hair Transplant
DHI commonly combines individual extraction with implanter-device placement and may suit selected treatment plans.
DHI hair transplantFUT Hair Transplant
FUT uses strip harvesting from the donor area and leaves a linear donor scar. It may be considered for selected patients.
FUT hair transplantHairline Restoration
Hairline planning should account for facial proportions, natural graft direction, donor supply and possible future recession.
Hairline transplantCrown Restoration
Crown transplantation requires recreation of the natural whorl and careful management of the amount of donor hair used.
Crown transplantBeard Transplant
Facial-hair restoration requires precise graft angle and direction to create natural beard, moustache or cheek coverage.
Beard transplantEyebrow Transplant
Eyebrow restoration uses fine grafts positioned at shallow angles to reproduce natural brow direction.
Eyebrow transplantFemale Hair Restoration
Selected women may be suitable for hairline, temple or localised scalp restoration after the cause and pattern of hair loss have been assessed.
Female hair transplantPRP Hair Treatment
PRP is a non-surgical option that may be considered for selected thinning concerns where active follicles remain.
PRP hair treatmentWhat Should Be Assessed?
- the cause and pattern of your hair loss;
- donor density, calibre and available graft supply;
- age, medical history and current medication;
- scalp condition and previous hair procedures;
- the size and design of the recipient area;
- possible future progression of hair loss.
When Surgery May Not Be the First Step
- the cause of hair loss is still unclear;
- hair loss appears unstable or rapidly progressive;
- the donor area is weak or diffusely thinning;
- an active scalp condition requires assessment;
- the requested density exceeds safe donor supply;
- monitoring or non-surgical management may be more appropriate.

Surgeon-Led Hair Transplant Planning
Dr Harpreet Kalra is Harley Street Hair Transplants' principal hair-transplant surgeon. Treatment planning should begin with suitability, donor preservation and realistic long-term expectations rather than a predetermined technique or graft number.
The assessment should consider donor density, hair calibre and texture, pattern of hair loss, age, medical history, scalp condition, previous treatment and the area you would like restored.

Which hair transplant treatments are available?
Depending on suitability, treatment planning can include FUE, DHI, FUT, hairline restoration, crown restoration, beard and eyebrow transplantation, female hair restoration and selected non-surgical options such as PRP.
How much does a hair transplant cost?
Surgical prices currently start from £3,499. Final cost depends on the treatment area, estimated graft requirement, donor suitability, procedure type and individual case complexity.
How many grafts will I need?
Graft requirements depend on the size of the treatment area, existing native hair, donor density, hair calibre, hair characteristics and the coverage that can safely be achieved.
Is FUE or DHI better?
Neither is automatically better for every patient. DHI mainly describes an implantation approach, while the overall treatment plan also depends on donor supply, graft requirements, treatment area and long-term planning.
Does transplanted hair shed after surgery?
Yes, some transplanted hair shafts can shed during the weeks after surgery. This does not automatically mean that the transplanted follicular units have been lost.
When does transplanted hair start growing?
Early visible growth commonly develops over the first several months. Density and hair calibre continue to improve progressively rather than appearing all at once.
Does a hair transplant stop future hair loss?
No. Transplantation redistributes selected donor follicles, but surrounding native hair can continue to thin. Long-term planning should take possible future progression into account.
Can women arrange a consultation in Newcastle?
Yes. Selected women may be suitable for transplantation, but the cause and pattern of hair loss and the condition of the donor area should be assessed before surgery is recommended.
